Healthy Communication With Your Children

Parenting can be a challenge for those who do not communicate effectively. I suggest if this is an area you struggle with take a communication class or two and provide the knowledge for yourself to grow and improve.

Children will not communicate with you if they feel threatened or challenged in any way. Make sure as a parent you are creating a safe and loving environment for your children to have the desire to let you into their lives everyday.

It takes daily communication for your children to build up the willingness and trust that speaking to their parents will result in a positive way.

Healthy communication takes time to achieve and the more you practice the easier it will become. Be patient in waiting to see if your knowledge has become effective in your daily communication with your children.

You can take your children to play games like racquetball or tennis which are two fantastic activities that can be accomplished with two people.

Doing these kinds of physical activities also helps your child see how fun fitness can be.

One of the best ways to promote great communication with your children is to take each one out for a special date night once each week.

This will give the child reassurance that he/she has a time set aside to speak to their parent frequently without the interruption of their siblings.

I remember as a young girl how badly I longed to have one on one time with either of my parents but it was not available.

My father worked out of town and so my mother had double duty with her 5 children. There simply was not time for her to spend with each one of us separately.
