Spa Steam Rooms and Saunas

Steam rooms and saunas can be very relaxing and therapeutic for the body and skin.

The moist heat opens up pores and allows toxins to exit the body while also loosening the lungs.

Many world class spas have these facilities available for their guests to use during their stay at the spa.

These types of services were designed in order to accommodate the guests’ relaxation desires and needs. (more…)

Safe Fun in the Sun

Summer is coming and before you know it you will be getting those dreaded sunburns. Make sure you are prepared everywhere you go with sunscreen in your purse.

It is especially a good idea to have sunscreen on hand when you have children. It is just too difficult to keep them out of the sun so apply the sunscreen and let them be.

Remember that it needs to be reapplied every 3-4 hours. If you are planning to spend all day at the pool then you may need to apply it more than once.

Many places provide shade next to pools now. Reserving cabanas are great ways to minimize the amount of time your skin sees the sun. If you are smart about it you can literally spend all day at the pool and come out with beautifully protected skin. (more…)

Exercising at Home

I went out and bought a pilates mat and an exercise ball because going to the gym isn’t always practical. Today’s world is too crazy to waste precious time traveling to the gym and back when I can get in a perfectly good workout at home.

I like to start by stretching first. Next I incorporate a few pilates moves like the pilates 100, corkscrew, single leg stretch, and the open leg rocker. (more…)

Coconut Water for Your Health

Coconut water is a great way to get additional nutrients and vitamins into your system after a good exercise workout. It is full of electrolytes and potassium. These nutrients help nourish your muscles and strengthen them.

After you have pushed your body hard you need to allow for cool down time to stretch and hydrate your muscles. This gives the muscles a chance to rest and breathe.

It is even a good idea to drink coconut water during your work out just like you would regular water.

Coconut water has been around for hundreds of years and is very well respected by the cultures that rely upon it daily. The value of coconut water to them is priceless. (more…)

Protect Children From Second Hand Smoke

My mother grew up in a home where her father smoked around his children. She suffered with horrible asthma because of the second hand smoke she was exposed to at a very young age. She is still bothered by her asthma to this day.

Of course back then there was no way to know or prove that it was the second hand smoke she was exposed to for so long that caused her such problems.

I have a beautiful little 4 yr old niece that has a difficult time breathing due to second hand smoke. She is surrounded by it day and night. I cannot prove she has developed asthma or if she is allergic to the smoke. What I do know is that her mother is an avid smoker and will pick up a cigarette with the child sitting on her lap. Dental Hygiene and Your Health

Dental hygiene speaks volumes about a person. It can give you clues into their personal life an even tell you if they are lazy or careless.

If someone cannot find the time to floss or brush their teeth they probably cannot take the time for many other important things in life.

Proper dental care also includes regular dental check-ups. Your dentist cannot help you prevent painful cavities or abscess teeth on their own.

If you do not take the necessary time to properly care for your teeth and gums you will end up with numerous issues inside your mouth. Gingivitis has become increasingly more common.

In fact gingivitis has grown to be a very popular problem today because so many people have not had dental hygiene education or they are simply too lazy to put aside time to care for their teeth. (more…)

Does Cholesterol Create Heart Disease?

We have been trained by our nations physicians to believe that high cholesterol is dangerous. We have been told to watch how many foods we take in each day that have high cholesterol.

I believe however that this information is not necessarily accurate. I am sure that our doctors mean well by trying to teach us to stay away from certain foods like eggs by telling us that they cause high cholesterol. (more…)

Health is Everything

Health and wellness are very important subjects in today’s world.

They are both great words to use if you are seeking attention towards a certain health crowd.

In the world we live in today we cannot be too careful what we consume into our bodies.

We must pay attention to the environment we allow our bodies to be part of especially when those environments are privy to certain toxins ( e.g. second hand smoke).

Health is wealth. Truly it is. I have never met anyone that would trade their health for any amount of money.

If you do not have your health you do not have much to work with. (more…)

Healthy Communication With Your Children

Parenting can be a challenge for those who do not communicate effectively. I suggest if this is an area you struggle with take a communication class or two and provide the knowledge for yourself to grow and improve.

Children will not communicate with you if they feel threatened or challenged in any way. Make sure as a parent you are creating a safe and loving environment for your children to have the desire to let you into their lives everyday.

It takes daily communication for your children to build up the willingness and trust that speaking to their parents will result in a positive way.

Healthy communication takes time to achieve and the more you practice the easier it will become. Be patient in waiting to see if your knowledge has become effective in your daily communication with your children. (more…)
